FOI reference - FOI-326
Date - 23 October 2024
Request
- What relevance title has to pension eligibility;
- Why it is necessary to identify my marital status in respect of my pension;
- Whether my marital status impacts decisions pension companies make on my eligibility or where my pension is invested;
- That you will remove title as a mandatory field on all pension application forms.
Response
I confirm that we do not hold the information you have requested.
In addition under FoIA we are only obliged to provide information we already hold. We are not required to create information to answer questions or provide commentary on issues raised in a request. Therefore, the majority of your request does not fall within the scope of FoIA.
However, I can confirm that the title of pension members is not required information in the Scheme Return that The Pensions Regulator (TPR) issues to the schemes we regulate.
TPR does not hold nor manage any scheme application forms, so the forms you are referring to will be operated and maintained by individual pension schemes.
