Role

An exciting opportunity to shape the future of scheme administration, dashboards, data quality and cyber resilience across the UK pensions landscape.

We’re seeking an industry expert to oversee the regulation of pensions administration, dashboards and cyber resilience. Reporting to the Director of Trusteeship, Administration and DB Supervision, the Regulatory Theme lead is responsible for the day-to-day execution of TPR’s regulatory responsibilities in relation to regulatory compliance, risk oversight and member outcomes.

In this high-impact role, you’ll ensure millions of savers receive the benefits they’ve earned—accurately, fairly, and on time.

What you’ll do

  • Lead regulatory strategy and oversight of pension scheme administration and dashboards.
  • Drive industry-wide standards for compliance, governance, and member service.
  • Collaborate with the industry, trustees, regulatory partners and industry experts.
  • Champion innovation in digital transformation and data transparency.

In addition to being held accountable for the execution of TPR ‘s formal regulatory responsibilities, role holders will also be responsible for contributing to the creation of a positive reputation and standing of TPR within and across the Pensions industry and will be expected to exhibit the skills to positively influence the behaviours and operating models of the regulated and wider market entities for whom their teams are responsible.

Successful candidates will also be expected to be capable of representing TPR in a public speaking capacity at appropriate industry events and considered credible substitutes for the Director of Trusteeship, Administration and DB Supervision when required to stand in for them.

Responsibilities

Managing people

Managing the Administration, Dashboards and Cyber regulatory theme

  • Oversee the management of regulated and non-regulated entities in the regulatory theme.
  • Serve as a point of contact for C-suite officers of regulated entities.
  • Ensure efficient, proactive and timely execution of team workload.
  • Consistently apply relevant regulations in line with corporate strategy.
  • Set and manage team priorities, ensuring alignment with TPR’s focus areas.
  • Implement a proactive engagement model with the client segment.
  • Share knowledge across the Market Oversight function.
  • Embrace change and innovative solutions in managing workload and relationships.
  • Maintain an outcome-oriented approach, prioritising material member outcomes.

Essential criteria

  • Qualified pensions advisory or industry or leadership professional, or equivalent experience.
  • Leadership and Team Management: Demonstrated ability to manage a multi-disciplinary team of senior level individuals with emotional intelligence, credibility, and expertise.
  • Stakeholder Relationship Management: Professional presence and empathy to build and maintain effective relationships with senior leadership teams of regulated entities.
  • Industry Knowledge: Thorough understanding of the commercial challenges and complexities facing the discrete regulatory themes of the Trusteeship, Administration and DB industry, including regulatory requirements and TPR objectives.
  • Risk Management: Ability to make informed judgments about risks at both entity and industry levels, and act as an escalation point for contentious issues.
  • Communication Skills: Accomplished communication skills with the ability to discuss technical pensions and industry issues both internally and publicly to DB Pension Industry figures, trustees and pension managers, market advisors, market service providers and senior colleagues within TPR.
  • Strategic Insight: Deep understanding of the value proposition throughout the funding cycle of the journey for a member of DB schemes.
  • Resilience and Adaptability: Proven resilience and effectiveness under pressure, with the ability to anticipate organisational demands and market needs.
